View on natural animal birth
Most animals in the world are wild and extremely unsanitary, yet they still seem to manage with giving birth. I watched a video of a giraffe giving birth and for about 2 seconds it seemed weird to me there were no other animals around no beeping sounds, no machines around just the mother and the baby. If baby giraffes can fall 6 feet and still live it makes me wonder what is the difference with humans? What happen between humans and animals, what makes us need machines and not them? I just don’t understand why animals can withstand such rigorous conditions and deliver babies but “superior” humans rely so much on machines and cesareans to get the job done. Overall I think humans should learn a thing or two about natural birth and take it into consideration before they doubt what their bodies can do.
Skit of birth
I thought this skit was hilarious! Although I felt like it represented the façade of birth instead of doctors having no knowledge about delivering a baby. I didn’t know that many people thought how meaningless the whole process of a hospital birth was. What I learned the most from the skit was how useless a woman can be now when it comes to giving birth. I felt like the woman wasn’t even there during the skit, the main focus seems to be on the doctor and his mission. Will all the stress of trying to give birth I can see how people would just listen to the man in charge and get a cesarean. I feel like those machines only become necessary when getting a cesarean because that’s a process your bodies not made for. But for birth in my opinion all you really need is a table and some sterilized tools. Birth is becoming an overrated process and a multi billionaire industry.
Midwifery
Hearing what Ina May had to say about Midwifes didn’t impress me that much but I do think the idea behind a midwife is really cool. Lots of first mothers should get Midwifes to educate them and make the process easier on them. I don’t feel that Midwife are extremely necessary and should be at every birth but they would come in handy sometimes.
C-sections
HOLLY CRAP! Cesareans are torture for women. When I was watching the video I had to keep looking way it was so bad. I can’t imagine any person willing to get a cesarean. I was born by a cesarean and it kind of gets mad that I entered the world that way. I watched several videos on cesarean births and the way the doctors handled the babies was so brutal. In one of the videos a doctor used some pointy metal thing to pull the head out. It made me wonder if they covered the mother’s vision because they know how aggressive the process is and no mother would let that happen. Anyway I am a strong believer now that no woman should ever get a cesarean unless it is a life or death situation.
View on today’s birth
Watching all the different versions of birth taught me a lot. I learned that animals have babies all the time by themselves, many people view hospital births as a joke, doctors prefer to do cesareans because they are faster and that midwifes are becoming scarce or replaced by nurses. I sympathize women today who don’t have the voice to stand up to impatient doctors. I don’t disagree with the pain medication but I do disagree with all the other things that doctors enforce on mothers to induce the delivery. I probably would not have said this before the unit but now that I know these things I want to be one of those people who have a natural birth.

Are machines an improvement or are they just making things worse?
