Part A make up |
The preamble is as opening for the constitution, it describes the fundamentals at which America’s government is built on. “We the people” gives the preamble the most power because it represents the action that Americans can take. The preamble also states the purpose to create an orderly society.
Article 1 legislative branch: The legislative powers consist of the senate and the House of Representatives. Having a two-part legislative branch allows the two to balance each other out wile representing “the people”. •People have the power to change who is in the house of representatives •Looks like taxes no longer associate with the axes and house of representatives •President cannot control who is in the house of representatives •Senates are chose by state legislators •It would take three elections and six years to replace all 100 senators •“A presidential veto- when a president refuses to sing a bill into a law- makes the president equally powerful with congress but not completely independent •The word slave is not in the constitution but they think that saying “such persons as any of the states now existing shall think proper” justifies the actions of what the constitution expects of those persons •Congress cannot tax anything sent out of a state although it has the power to tax imported goods •Congress is prohibited from allowing states to get involved in foreign affairs
Article 2 Executive Branch: The executive branch is made up of the president and the vice president who can stay in office for a term of four years. The president is allowed to veto bills and stop them from becoming laws. The president’s responsibilities are to make sure that the laws are faithfully executed. •Congress can chose when they want to veto, they chose electors every Tuesday after the first Monday in November every fourth year •The president is the supreme commander of the military •The president can make treaties with the Senate’s approval •The president can call meetings with congress to settle a division between the houses •The president, vice president and civil affairs can all be impeached by the senate
Article 3 Judicial Branch: The supreme courts hold all the power of the judicial court. The Supreme Court must always maintain there “good behaviors” and judgment. •The supreme courts deal with cases that effect the constitution •The supreme court gets involved with disputes between the us and other foreign places •Treason only applies to citizens and resident aliens during the time of war
5 Questions and Insights 1.I'm surprised buy how it states repeatedly that the constitution is vague and broad when it comes to the actions of the branches. 2.It looks like the congress has more power than the president but there is so much more hype over who the people elect into presidency rather than who is in congress. 3.I like that lots of things have been crossed out from the constitution because it shows that things that might not be perfect can change. 4."we the people" makes the constitution seem like it represents the people but it seems like all the constitution does it represent the government. 5.I know tings can be crossed out form the constitution but can things be added and who adds them? |

Grinch and Holiday Reflection |
Christmas was not so upbeat this year not to be so grumpy but It seemed like the spirit was all gone and so were all the toys. Usually every Christmas I get tons and tons of gifts from my family but this year I barely got half of what I got last year. When I spoke to my dad before Christmas came, we were speaking about money situations and how hard it’s going to be for people to give gifts this year, although I completely agree because of the recession and stuff I didn’t think it was going to effect Christmas that much. So we made a bet that if I got more than 5 gifts from my family he would give me 20 bucks sadly I lost. To my surprise I didn’t get a lot of gifts at all. I know Christmas helps the economy a lot with all the shopping and spending of money but it seem like not a lot of that was going on this year. Christmas is such a big part of the American way of life that even with the recession and the hard times that the economy is going through its amazing to see how Christmas was celebrated even though money is an issue. I just think this proves how important Christmas is to Americans. The good thing is that Christmas will always keep coming year after year and can always get better. >if you wondering what the sign that Santa is holding it says “the sleigh broke down”<
Class discussion about our holidays: Reflecting with other people about Christmas I learned that as the older we get the more we are less excited about Christmas. As a child I think that Christmas is something to look forward to and enjoy but as you get older Christmas is just forced upon you with not so much joy. When I was with my family yes we did have fun but it had a feeling of being forced, forced to get gifts for everyone, forced to meet up at in a house, forced to look nice and have spirit. I think the American way of life follows that theory as well, it paints a picture as little kids run down the stairs and parents so happy to give their children gifts but we never really see how teens fit into it all. To me it shows that Christmas time becomes a big part of your American way of life only during those periods. But as we get older I didn’t feel the need this year to dress all up and throw on a smile because I knew everyone felt the same way as I did. It made me realize how much of a hype American family’s have for all holidays or celebrations.
With the feeling that 2008 wasn’t such a good year I was glad when new years was just around the corner. Doing typical things every New Year’s didn’t seem odd to me, hanging out, eating a lot, getting drunk and watching the ball drop was normal. I think every New Year’s people tend to reflect on their previous year and focus on the bad rather than the good. Getting drunk and acting stupid probably became a tradition so that people can act silly and shake off the past because the New Year is here and they can have a fresh start. Watching the ball drop gives meaning to the holiday, without the ball I don’t think there would be anything to look forward to and every holiday needs something to look forward to. The biggest tradition that goes hand in hand with New Year’s is the atmosphere. Whether you see the excitement on TV or the people are around you are hyper I think being excited and cheerful is something that is expected from everyone. Whatever holiday it is Christmas or New Year’s I think having a tradition is nothing new and there can be many reasons behind those traditions. The American Way Of Life is all about tradition. |

Wal-mart Trample make up |
Wal-Mart is a perfect representation of how America feels about money and what stops them from their goal. This shows how greedy Americans are and how much they value stupid stuff that can come and go. It’s a shame that the shoppers at Wal-Mart couldn’t stop a second to help this man up but instead went right along with the other people and ran over him. In not that surprised that the people were running over him to get to the products but I’m kind of shocked that the people were angry when Wal-Mart had to be closed and they had to stop shopping. I would hope Americans would have more sympathy and push their shopping anxiety aside for a moment to care for that man rather than argue about it. Like I mentioned in class the Wal-Mart trample reminds me of the elevator trample in the mornings. Kids/ people who ever will do anything to just think about themselves and that’s it. I know many people probably say that they would have stopped to help that man up but if someone were to fall down at the elevator not many people would stop to help them up but instead would walk right over them. This should be a wakeup call to people so that they can get there priorities in check and reevaluate what they value. |

EBay make up |
.jpg) When I approached this assignment I didn’t really have any expectations. I already knew it was going to be similar to the live auction and I knew that I had to be strategic about bidding because it was with real money this time and I knew I was competing with experienced people. After I got registered and started to browse around I noticed that you really could buy and sell anything on EBay. EBay being worldwide allowed some of the things that I wanted to be really cheap since the supply of things were so big it made the demand low which was perfect because I didn’t want to spend a lot. It was really nervous when I bid on a wrist watch and it had 3 days to still get higher in price. It would have been a lot easier to just buy one of the watches that said buy it now instead of waiting and being uncertain if I even have it for sure or not. I bid on 3 previous watches before and lost all bids before I was able to win one. I also learned a little bit about how to pay for things through a bank and that was cool. EBay is really fun I like the low prices the wide selection on things being able to bid or buy products for a price that you want. Whether it’s EBay or the live auction I think they both represent capitalism and the free market perfectly. After the whole experience it changed my entire perspective of buying things on the internet. |
