Health care - Break HW

What is your family's experience of health care in the U.S.?
Dads Response: “The family has always had healthcare there was never a time where I had to question not having healthcare until recently. For the majority of our life we never had to worry about you kids getting sick and not being able to go to the doctors. Every 6 months or so they send an update and if u miss the dead line you get dropped from their system fast”

Do you all have health coverage through an HMO or Medicare or CHIP?
Dads Response: “We have Medicare”

Have you spent much time in emergency rooms?
Dads Response: “Not really, if we have it wasn’t often. About 3 times last year.”

Had any experience with heavy medical bills, confusion over who will pay, and/or denied treatment?
Dads Response: “Yes, even with Medicare I’ve had to pay for an ambulance ride and medication out of my own pocket. It became a big burden when I was informed that Medicare didn’t cover everything, scramming to find the money to pay those bills was the hardest. After a mild heart attack I was dined from Medicare for physical therapy. I know people who have recovered 100% with the treatment and I never got the chance to try it out.”

Have you had wonderful experiences where you were healed by loving doctors with no worries about payment?
Dads Response: “When I was omitted to the hospital the doctor told me that for at least a week I didn’t have to worry about anything Medicare was covering all the hospital expenses. When I heard this it felt like a ton of bricks fell off of my shoulders because I wouldn’t have to rush to get out the hospital I could just get the necessary treatment.”
